Final Position - 7th Place in the Silver Fleet

The championships have ended now, and Philip and Guy finished 7th in the Silvers out of a fleet of over 30 boats. This is an amazing achievement given that they hadn’t sailed with one another for some time, the other crews were made up of sailors who had competed in the last Olympics or were 49er crews, and that they had a certain amount of gear failure due to the extreme conditions.

It may be true to say that this performance merits a full civil reception when they return, with bunting, oompah band, champagne and speeches by the Mayor, the Commodore, the Vicar and the Priest, emphasizing the scale of this achievement by young Draycote sailors, and how this may inspire other youngsters to persevere and become top International sailors themselves.

Well done, Philip and Guy for flying the Draycote flag in San Fran, and furthering the cause of international peace and understanding through our great sport. Yer right!
