BDF Broadband was set up in July 2004 to provide fast internet access to the villages of Bourton, Draycote and Frankton, because the distance from the telephone exchange was too great.
In the early days, we used a satellite link which gave us a connection of 2Mb/s down and 0.5Mb/s up. We connected the villages to the base station using wireless technology, which is what we are still using today, albeit much improved with experience and better technology.
For the last three years we have used four BT business lines linked together at the exchange in Marton to give us an overall bandwidth of 32Mb/s download and 3Mb/s upload. The service offers unlimited usage to users at speeds considerably better than those available from the phone lines.
