Rugby Folk Dance Club is a club where all are welcome to English country/folk dancing.

Rugby Folk Dance Club.

Founded in the early 1970's, the club welcomes new members (singles or couples) Rugby Folk Dance Club Nightor visitors with an interest in dancing. No experience is needed as all dances are walked through before being danced.
It is at barn dances that people often first meet this type of dancing but, at a club such as Rugby Folk Dance Club, the range and style of dances and music  encountered is much wider.
The club aims to promote the dances from the 17th. century to the present day that are generally included in the term 'Folk Dances'. These may be the 'Playford' dances (such as seen in the BBC drama "Pride and Prejudice") , or others by more modern composers like Pat Shaw, Gary Roodman et al., and also American style contras and squares.

Club Meetings

With  few exceptions the club meets fortnightly from September to July on Wednesdays from 7.45-10pm at Rogers Hall, Hillmorton. (See below for map link and information.) Whilst every effort is made to keep information on this web site up to date, intending newcomers are advised to check with one of the contacts listed.
On some evenings dancing is to recorded music, on others live music is provided. The club has a number of callers who are there to help everyone through the movements and to enjoy the dancing. Why not come along and give it a try? It only costs £1.50 a night! Beginners and experienced dancers alike are welcome.
